THE REASON THAT KMFDM ARE DEAD IS THAT I HAVE JUST REALIZED THAT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS ESTABLISHMENT AND STIFLES CREATIVITY. EVER SINCE THE GAY CO-FOUNDER OF WAX TRAX DIED OF AIDS, I HAVE NOT HAD THE SAME FEELINGS TOWARD MY MUSIC. WITHOUT THIS GAY CO-FOUNDER I FEEL MY LIFE IS MEANINGLESS AND THE 'ADIOS' ALBUM WILL BE MY LAST. I HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY ON THIS SUBJECT. I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THESE PERSONS HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO JUSTICE AND HUNG UNTIL DEAD. IT HAS ALSO COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT CERTAIN PERSON'S ARE USING MY NAME FOR THEIR EMAIL ACCOUNTS AT SITES SUCH AS YAHOO AND HOTMAIL, CAUSING ME TO USE THIS PATHETIC USER NAME 'KONIETZKO_SASCHA' INSTEAD OF MY PROPER NAME 'SASCHA_KONIETZKO' OR EVEN 'SASCHA_K'. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SORT OF THING THAT HAS CAUSED ME TO DECLARE KMFDM OBSOLETE. ALSO I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHAT SKOLD AND EN ESCH ARE DOING NOW THAT KMFDM ARE DEAD. KMFDM is an acronym for : Kein Mehrheit Fur Die Mitleid (No pity for the majority). As a reaction to the
feverish efforts (Fueled by a pointless "Marketing Campaign") to create 1001 possible meanings for our
name, we made a point in 1994 by offering an alternative option. Keiner Macht Fur Dich Mehr (No one
does more for you), can be found in the lyrics of KMFDM "Light".
Kein Mehrheit Fur Die Mitleid was founded by Sascha Konietzko and Udo Sturm, a German painter and
multi-media-performer, on February 29th, 1984, in Paris France. That day, the multi-national kunst-
konspiracy "erste hilfe" (German for "first aid"), was to perform for the opening exhibition of young
european artists at the grand palanis in Paris. The audio-accompaniment was conducted by Sturm (he
played a fragmented arp 2600 synthesizer in feedback mode) and Konietzko (who treated a bass guitar
amplified by 5 ampeg bass-amplifiers placed in strategically significant areas of the huge turn-of-the-
century steel and glass-construction) As well as four original Polish coal-miners (putting their tool-of-trade
to work on the buildings foundations).
Shortly thereafter, back in Hamburg, Germany, Konietzko started another project with Pete Missing, audio-
anarchist from New York City, "Missing Foundations". In search for a drummer, En Esch was found, who
had recently moved from his hometown, near Frankfurtm to Hamburg. Esch's and Konietzko's participation
in MF did not last, and together with englishman Raymond "Nainz" Watts, a friend of Konietzko's
KMFDM (The abbreviation was introduced by Watts who could never pronounce the tongue-twister)
picked up steam.
Their first album "What Do You Know, Deutschland?" was released in December 1986. It consisted of
recordings made in the years 1983-1986, some of which were done before En Esch joined the band ("What
Do You Know, Deutschland?" and "The un-restrained use of Excessive Force"). In early 1987 KMFDM
released "Kickin' Ass" and licensed it to a british record-label which introduced them to the art-world of
Brute. The 1988 release "Don't Blow Your Top" was licensed to Wax Trax! Records in Chicago and the
rest is history.......

KMFDM:
n. 1. Acronym for the German phrase `Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid', which means in English, `No Pity
For The Majority'.
It does NOT mean "Kill Mother F------ Depeche Mode", "Killing Madonna Frees Degenerate Minds" or
anything else.
2. A conglomeration of German-American musicians. Their music has been classified as `Industrial', but
the band members are not satisfied with that label. Their music has too much guitar and too much structure
to be truly Industrial. Sascha Konietzko, the band's co-founder and main writer, calls his music `Ultra-
Heavy Beat', which may be the best approximation for those people who feel a need to categorize every
band they hear.
